Paradox :: Mother & Wound
a series of shorts on mothering, remembering, re-mothering & coming home, pt. 2
Dedicated to the elder-mothers who have gone to sleep, and not yet woken up. Whose wounds did not start with them, and whose pain does does not belong their daughters, sons, or grandchildren. May love find you, and may you, too, meet your Inner-Mother.
We Are Not Our Mother’s Pain
If we grew up with a mother who was abusive, neglectful, anxious, avoidant or disorganized, we will have little access to our own wise Inner-Mother.
Connecting with and creating a secure-attachment with our own Inner-Mother happens slowly, as part of healing, re-mothering, reparenting, or living well.
It is part of regenerative neuroplasticity and restoring the autonomic nervous system and healing with chronic illness.
It is part of building a capacity to feel and stay in our bodies while also increasing our emotional intelligence.
When we practice inviting our whole body into this whole-brained practice of knowing and holding ourselves through somatic dialogue and processing1, our breath, our minds, our spirits work in cohesion with the body.
This unearths a doorway to creating whole and holistic relationship with ourselves ~ body, emotions, mind, and spirit.
This doorway unearths more doorways to connecting deeply and wholly with our longings, our truths, our children, our ancestors, with others, with the earth and the elements, with the Creator, and with the world.
The relationship with our wise Inner-Mother is one of the greatest gifts of intergenerational, ancestral, and ecological healing we offer our lineage, earth and world.
Once we awaken to and surrender to accessing this doorway and level of healing, (it takes some love), our bodies, minds and spirits begin to heal and recover. Out of session and into our life-world, our bodies will always remember the work.
Epigenetics will change and transform as we begin co-creating sovereign resource to access when life gets hard or when more healing and transformation happens.
Yes, generations of unfelt emotions are to be felt and integrated (slowly) as part of Inner-Mothering.
As we begin to live and dance with our Inner-Mother, the whole world feels our courage, our love.
